Cherie A. Rivero Countryman,  Assistant Principal and Dean of Curriculum & Instruction, is the ultimate model of scholar artist as a performing artist and educational leader.

Prior to taking a role in Booker T’s administration, Ms. Countryman has served our students as Director of the Academic Conservatory for over three years and Social Studies Department Chair in years prior. She has encouraged our students to cultivate diversity and transform society while teaching all of the social studies including AP United States History, Government, Economics, Mexican American Studies, African American Studies, World History, and World Geography.

Cherie completed her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas at Dallas through Dallas ISD’s LEAD program. She also studied Radio, Television, and Film for her undergraduate degree at The University of Texas at Austin and has a Masters in Mass Communication from Texas State University-San Marcos.

When she is not at school she can be found singing with Absolute Entertainment DFW cover bands or spending time with family, including her four adorable children: Charlize, Chelsie, CJ, and Connor, aka the Countrykids. Cherie believes that arts education is essential in creating a better society and is committed to making a difference in students' lives.
