Cherie Countryman
Dean of Curriculum and Instruction
Cherie A. Rivero Countryman, Assistant Principal and Dean of Curriculum & Instruction, is the ultimate model of scholar artist as a performing artist and educational leader.
Prior to taking a role in Booker T’s administration, Ms. Countryman has served our students as Director of the Academic Conservatory for over three years and Social Studies Department Chair in years prior. She has encouraged our students to cultivate diversity and transform society while teaching all of the social studies including AP United States History, Government, Economics, Mexican American Studies, African American Studies, World History, and World Geography.
Cherie completed her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas at Dallas through Dallas ISD’s LEAD program. She also studied Radio, Television, and Film for her undergraduate degree at The University of Texas at Austin and has a Masters in Mass Communication from Texas State University-San Marcos.
When she is not at school she can be found singing with Absolute Entertainment DFW cover bands or spending time with family, including her four adorable children: Charlize, Chelsie, CJ, and Connor, aka the Countrykids. Cherie believes that arts education is essential in creating a better society and is committed to making a difference in students' lives.

Dr. Cedric Barrett
Dean of Operations
Cedric Barrett is a native of Dallas, Texas and a product of the Dallas Independent School District. Dr. Barrett is a former elementary and middle school band director. He has served as an administrator in Dallas ISD & Athens ISD.
Cedric is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and Soul Rydaz Motorcycle Riding Club where he provides community service throughout the Dallas Metroplex. Each year he participates in the Wynnewood Fellowship Church toy drive and feeding the homeless.
He is a musician who enjoys playing a variety of instruments and currently serves as the Minister of Music at Wynnewood Fellowship Church. He and his family reside in Garland and in his spare time he enjoys sports and riding motorcycles. Cedric Barrett is very passionate about education and the academic achievement of all students. He looks forward to working with the staff, students, parents and community.
