Choral and Vocal Studies

Dr. William George-Twyman, wigeorge@dallasisd.org

Andrea Wallace, andwallace@dallasisd.org

Jino Young, euyoung@dallasisd.org

Students in choir are required to audition for All-District/All-Region Choir (TMEA Process) and are also required to participate in all UIL and Pre-UIL contests each year. Private lessons are required for our committed vocal students. In order to provide service to as many students as possible, we have established the following guidelines:

  • Be prepared for lessons by bringing all required materials to your lesson.
  • Practice all assigned vocal exercises and music.
  • Be teachable (open-minded and willing to learn).
  • Contact private teacher 24 hours in advance, when possible, if a student must be absent from a lesson for any reason. This includes absences involving school-related activities.
  • Participate in required recitals, auditions, and solo competitions.
  • Voice lesson scholarships are available to qualified choir students who meet the requirements set forth by the Magnet Advisory Board. Students needing this service should see Mr. George-Twyman.
  • Once a student has received a vocal scholarship, a failing grade in school will put the student’s scholarship in jeopardy.
