Google Apps for Education

Dallas ISD will be moving to a Google platform.

Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a core suite of productivity applications that Google offers to schools and educational institutions for FREE. These communication and collaboration apps include Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sites, and a GAFE account unlocks access to dozens of other collaborative tools supported by Google. All of these applications exists completely online (or in the cloud), meaning that all creations can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection.

Google Drive is a free service from Google that allows you to store files online and access them anywhere using the cloud. Drive also gives you access to free web-based applications for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more. Users are currently offered 15 gigabytes (15BG) of space, which eliminates the need for a USB drive or other external device.

Google Docs is a free web-based application in which documents can be created, edited and stored online. Files are

accessible from any computer with an internet connection and full-featured web browser. Additionally, Google Docs is perfectly compatible with Microsoft Office and is a convenient way to collaborate with others using one document.

Google Slides is an online presentations app that allows you to show off your work in a visual way. With Slides, it's easy to create and edit presentations, either individually or collaboratively, and share it with others effortlessly.

Google Sheets makes your data pop with colorful charts and graphs. Built-in formulas, pivot tables and conditional formatting options save time and simplify common spreadsheet tasks. Collaborate in a snap by working on the same document, and everything saves automatically.

Google Sites is an easy way to create a website for your class! This application makes it easy for students, parents and the community to obtain documents, information and content in a timely fashion. Editing is easy and requires no formal webmaster training to use.

Google Classroom is a free web-based platform that integrates your Google Apps for Education account with ALL your Google Apps services, including Docs, Gmail, and Calendar. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate and stay organized. Additionally, teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in classroom.
